Natalia Chernova. «Dmitry Hvorostovsky. Episodes»

 

The name of Russian singer Dmitry Hvorostovsky is known all over the world.

 

This first book about him consists, written in the form of a lively, entertaining narration, it is entirely based on a documentary material. Unknown or little known facts from the life of the actor, as well as his eccentricity also make up the essence of this narration.

 

 

 

Work on the book was very interesting. The challenge was to create graphic numbers corresponding to the "documentation" of the text. Almost all of the book's 180 pages had photos of the same person! And then there was the idea of imitating a fan's album - ticket stubs from concerts, theatre ads and film pieces...

 

 

The book uses freeze frames from video archives which provided an opportunity to mount strips of film with sequence shots of one episode.

All pages had to be packed "manually" - it was impossible to use the typical scheme.

 

It was very interesting.

Selection of shots, processing and installation took one and a half months, considering the complexity of each page installation.

Book presentation took place on April, 18th, 2006 in a building of AiF on Mjasnitsky in Moscow, Russia.
